Product Description

Aluminum sulfate is an important inorganic chemical compound with the molecular formula Al₂(SO₄)₃. It is typically available in the form of white or off-white flakes, granules, or powder. Depending on its water content, it can be classified into anhydrous and hydrated forms, with the hydrated type (commonly Al₂(SO₄)₃·18H₂O) being the most widely used in industrial applications.

It is highly soluble in water and forms an acidic solution. Due to its excellent properties and sustainability that make it vital to our modern lives, aluminium sulfate is widely used in water treatment, paper manufacturing, textiles, construction, and various other industries.

What Is Aluminum Sulfate Used For

Iron-free aluminum sulfate is mainly used as paper sizing agent, flocculant for drinking water, industrial water and wastewater treatment, and as raw material for the production of artificial gemstones and other aluminum salts, such as ammonia vitriol, potash vitriol and refined aluminum sulfate. In addition, aluminum sulfate is also widely used in the production of clarifiers, petroleum deodorizing and decolorizing agents, concrete waterproofing agents, paper whitening, titanium dioxide post-film treatment, and catalyst carriers.

  • Water treatment. The aluminum sulfate for water treatment is a commonly used flocculant and coagulant, which can be used to remove suspended solids, turbidity, organic matter and heavy metal ions in water. After being dissolved in water, aluminum sulphate can combine with pollutants in the water, causing the fine particles and natural colloidal particles in the water to aggregate into large flocs. After sedimentation or filtration, the impurities can be removed from the water easily.
  • Paper Industry. As an important additive in the pulp and paper production process. It can adjust the pH value of pulp, promote fiber aggregation and precipitation, so as to improve the strength and gloss of paper. At the same time, it is used as a paper sizing agent to enhance the water resistance and anti-leakage properties of paper.
  • Printing and dyeing. Used as a fixing agent for dyes in the dye industry. This is because it can react with dye molecules to form stable complexes, improving the color fastness and durability of dyes.
  • Tanning industry. Aluminum sulphate can be used as a tanning agent and dehairing agent in the tanning industry. It can combine with proteins in leather to form stable complexes, improving the softness, durability and water resistance of leather.
  • Chemical industry. Aluminium sulfate can be used as raw material for the manufacture of artificial gemstones and high-grade ammonium alum, and other aluminates.
  • Fire protection industry. Combine with baking soda and foaming agent to form a foam fire extinguishing agent.
  • Dye industry. Used as a precipitant in the production of chrome yellow and lake dyes, and also serves as a color fixing and filler.
  • Food processing industry. This chemical can be used as an acidifier and stabilizer, which adjust the pH value of food and extend the shelf life of food.
  • Cosmetics industry. Aluminum sulphate can be used as a stabilizer, conditioner, preservative in cosmetics and personal care products. It can increase product viscosity and stability, improving texture and usage experience.

Proven Coagulation Performance. Alum aluminum sulfate delivers reliable and efficient coagulation in water treatment processes. It rapidly forms dense aluminum hydroxide flocs, effectively removing suspended solids, turbidity, and impurities to ensure stable water quality.

Cost-Effective Solution. With its competitive cost and wide availability, aluminium sulfate offers an economical choice for large-scale municipal and industrial water treatment, helping reduce overall operating expenses.

Wide Application Versatility. Suitable for a broad range of applications, including drinking water treatment, wastewater purification, paper manufacturing, textiles, and construction materials, providing flexibility across multiple industries.

Stable and Consistent Quality. Manufactured under strict quality control, this chemical ensures consistent chemical composition and performance, supporting reliable processing and predictable results in end-use applications.

Easy Handling and High Solubility. The product dissolves quickly in water and is easy to handle in both solid and liquid forms, enabling convenient dosing and efficient operation in various treatment systems.

Environmentally Compatible. When used properly, aluminium sulphate supports environmentally responsible water treatment by effectively removing contaminants and helping facilities meet regulatory discharge standards.

Scalable Supply and Mature Technology. With well-established production processes and a stable global supply chain, aluminium sulfate is readily available to meet both small-scale and large-volume demand.

With the growing global demand for clean and safe water, along with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, aluminium sulphate continues to play an essential role in modern water treatment systems. It remains a preferred solution for municipal and industrial applications due to its proven effectiveness, cost efficiency, and consistent performance in removing impurities.

At the same time, the industry is undergoing a gradual transformation toward higher standards. There is a rising demand for high-purity grades, particularly in drinking water and sensitive applications, where product quality and stability are critical. In parallel, manufacturers are actively adopting more sustainable production technologies, focusing on energy efficiency, emission reduction, and the responsible use of raw materials.

Looking forward, supported by ongoing investments in water infrastructure and stricter regulatory frameworks worldwide, the aluminum sulfate market is expected to maintain steady growth, with continued advancements in product quality and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
