Product Description
Pangang R-298 titanium dioxide is a rutile-type, general-purpose pigment produced by Pangang Group, one of the leading steel and chemical enterprises in China. This grade is manufactured using the sulfate process. It appears as a fine, dry white powder with excellent stability and strong optical properties.
Due to its optimized particle size, narrow distribution, and high refractive index, titanium dioxide R-298 offers outstanding whiteness, opacity, and tinting strength, making it a versatile pigment suitable for coatings, plastics, inks, and various industrial applications.

Characteristics and Advantages of R-298 Titanium Dioxide
High Whiteness and Blue Undertone: Through advanced hydrolysis, calcination, and surface treatment technologies, Pangang R-298 titanium dioxide achieves a very high brightness. Its particles are well-controlled to effectively scatter blue light, resulting in a visually pure and bright white color, which is a significant advantage in applications requiring high color purity.
Excellent Hiding Power and Gloss: The uniform particle size distribution of R-298 optimizes light scattering, providing strong hiding power (opacity). Meanwhile, its good compatibility and dispersibility in various media contribute to forming smooth films, thereby enhancing the final product’s gloss.
Superior Weather Resistance: As a rutile-type titanium dioxide with a rutile content typically ≥98%, its stable crystal structure inherently provides good resistance to ultraviolet light. Combined with dense inorganic coatings (such as alumina, silica), it exhibits strong anti-chalking properties and durability, suitable for outdoor applications.
Easy Dispersion and Low Abrasiveness: The product undergoes inorganic (alumina) and organic surface treatment, significantly improving its wettability and dispersion stability in different resin systems. Additionally, the specific calcination process makes the particles relatively soft, reducing wear on processing equipment like extruders and mixers.
(1) Coatings: Widely used in indoor/outdoor architectural coatings (emulsion paints), industrial coatings (e.g., automotive primers, machinery paints), powder coatings, and wood coatings.
(2) Plastics: Suitable for coloring and UV protection in various plastics, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). It improves product whiteness, opacity, and weatherability.
(3) Inks: Applicable to offset printing inks, gravure printing inks, and other types, providing good printability, coloring strength, and stability.
(4) Paper: Used in decorative paper, coated paper, etc., to enhance whiteness, opacity, and gloss.
(5) Other Fields: Also finds applications in rubber, leather, and other chemical fiber products.
